1. Who we are
Match Financial Partners Ltd (formerly Match Mortgages Ltd) is the data controller of the personal information you give us. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 14279332, with our registered office at Beechwood Cottage, Beechwood Lane, Wendover, Aylesbury, HP22 5QL, and we are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA number 983246).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it and the rights you have over it. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@matchfp.co.uk or on 01296 621122. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer; our directors take responsibility for data protection compliance.
2. The information we collect
Depending on the service you ask us for, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details - your name, address, date of birth, email address and phone number.
- Financial information - income, employment, outgoings, existing borrowing, credit history and details of the property or business the advice relates to.
- Health information - where you apply for protection products such as life insurance, critical illness cover or income protection, insurers require certain health details. This is special category data and we only process it with your explicit consent.
- Enquiry details - anything you send us through the contact form on this website, by email or over the phone.
3. How we use it, and our lawful bases
We process your personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, relying on one or more of the following lawful bases:
- Contract - to take the steps you ask for before entering into a contract (for example, providing a quote or sourcing a mortgage) and to provide our advice and arranging services.
- Legal obligation - to meet our regulatory duties, including FCA rules and anti-money-laundering law.
- Consent - for marketing communications and for special category data such as health information. You can withdraw consent at any time.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we will never sell it.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed:
- Lenders, insurers and product providers we approach on your behalf, so they can consider your application.
- Professional partners involved in your transaction, such as solicitors or surveyors, where you ask us to.
- Trusted service providers who help us run our website and communications (for example, our email delivery provider), under contracts that protect your data.
- Our regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority, and other authorities where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep client records for six years, in line with the Financial Conduct Authority's record-keeping rules. After that, personal data is anonymised so it can no longer identify you and is used for statistical purposes only. Enquiries that do not become client relationships are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry.
6. How we protect it
We hold personal information securely, whether on paper or electronically: access is restricted to those who need it, systems are protected by strong passwords and security software, and personal data is encrypted before being transferred electronically. We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK unless equivalent safeguards are in place.
7. Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right:
- to be informed about how your data is used;
- to access a copy of the data we hold about you (a subject access request);
- to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- to have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- to restrict or object to processing;
- to data portability - receiving your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- to object at any time to direct marketing, which we will act on immediately and free of charge.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will respond free of charge within one month; if a request is complex we may extend this by up to two further months, and we will tell you if that is the case.
8. Cookies and local storage
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If you adjust the accessibility options (such as dark mode or text size), your preferences are saved in your browser's local storage on your device only - they are not sent to us or anyone else. Our fonts are loaded from third-party content delivery networks (Google Fonts and, if you enable the dyslexia-friendly font, jsDelivr); when your browser fetches them, your IP address is visible to those providers as with any web request.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please raise it with us first using our complaints procedure. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
